Last week was an exciting (and slightly hectic) one — because Monday was a huge day for my friend... she got married!
A big shoutout to my lovely friend Ruby for inviting me to be her wedding videographer — yes, not photographer this time! I even learned a new word: videographer! 🎥✨
The wedding ceremony took place on the jetty at Coral Sea Resort, one of the most iconic wedding spots in Airlie Beach. The ceremony included heartfelt vows, the exchanging of rings, and signing of the marriage certificate — and my job was to capture all of it in video. After the ceremony, there was a cozy dinner at Sorrento, the restaurant right on the Coral Sea Marina.
To make the video even better, I got myself a second-hand DJI Ronin S stabilizer — hoping it would take the footage to the next level (I mean, the bride trusted me with her big day, so I had to deliver!). But plot twist: due to the seller’s schedule, I only got the gear two days before the wedding. I charged it that night, only to find the next day it didn’t connect with my Sony a37. My husband and I spent the whole day troubleshooting, and the very next day was the rehearsal — then straight into the real deal!

Today, I finally finished editing the Instagram Reels version of the video and sent it to Ruby. She loved it — what a relief and joy! 🥹
Aside from the vertical social media video, I’m also planning to create a horizontal full-length version for the newlyweds — something they can keep as a memory, share with family and friends, or watch on any screen.
This was actually the second wedding I’ve filmed in the Airlie Beach area. The first one was a small, intimate backyard wedding for a lovely Aussie couple — it was their second marriage, and they just wanted a few candid photos (no edits needed!). But in the end, we decided to surprise them with a little video as well — just to make the memory extra special.
So if you ever plan to visit Airlie Beach or are thinking of hosting an event here, feel free to reach out! I’d love to help capture your special moments — in photos or videos — to keep the memories alive 💛📷🎬
