My New Go-To Café — The Sweet Spot! Tasty Drinks, Great Coffee, and Lovely Views!

In the middle of a busy week, I had to sneak in a blog update because… I’ve found my new favorite café in Airlie Beach — The Sweet Spot Whitsunday!

This was my third visit to The Sweet Spot, and I’ve already been back twice. Every drink and treat has been excellent. There are plenty of cafés around Airlie Beach, but most don’t offer light bites that really appeal to me, and a full breakfast is usually more than I want. The Sweet Spot stands out with its in-house baked sweet and savory options and heaps of variety — it’s jumped straight to the top of my list.

This time I ordered a salmon & avocado bagel and a matcha latte.

Yes, matcha lovers — they serve matcha lattes! Unless you ask otherwise, theirs comes unsweetened by default, yet it isn’t too bitter — a perfectly balanced flavor.

So far I’ve tried their black coffee, flat white, and matcha latte. My husband and I have also had a few of their savory bites — all great. Considering the views and how easy it is for us to get there, The Sweet Spot is absolutely one of my top coffee picks in Airlie Beach. From our mooring we can take the dinghy to the public jetty, and it’s less than a two-minute walk.

The Sweet Spot Whitsunday — what a fitting name! I’m guessing the owner is having fun with wordplay. Beyond all the tempting sweets, the café sits at the south end of Coral Sea Marina, a prime spot with gorgeous marina views. It’s also a common meeting point for tours like sailing and jet-ski trips. Behind the building you’ll find public toilets, a bus stop, and parking.

If you’re going for morning coffee or brunch, especially if you live in Airlie Beach, don’t forget to grab a loyalty card! Lots of cafés around here offer one, but I’m confident that once you try The Sweet Spot, you’ll want to come back — just like I did.

Nearby Walks & Spots

The Sweet Spot sits on the marina’s south side. Follow the path and you can head one way toward Airlie Beach Main Street, or the other toward Shingley Beach. I highly recommend walking toward Shingley and continuing onto my favorite local track — the Turtle Boardwalk. Keep going and you’ll reach Cannonvale Beach, another popular local spot.
