It’s 8:55 PM here in Queensland, Australia—and I’m writing my very first personal journal entry.
Starting my own website has always been a quiet little dream of mine. I chose to make it a blog because I love expressing my thoughts through writing. And more than that, I believe writing is a powerful skill—one worth nurturing and keeping alive.
In a world full of fleeting, fragmented messages, I want to practice writing with intention, clarity, and heart. Capturing what I see, feel, and experience in a meaningful way feels more important than ever. It’s a way of holding on to something real.
Today is May 1st. There’s no particular reason I chose May, but launching a website on the first day of the month makes it easy to remember when the subscription starts! Haha.
I set out to accomplish three things today:
Launch my personal website and write this very first journal entry.
Send an honest, respectful email to my current company, sharing that by July, I hope to receive a salary that reflects my worth—or I’ll bravely move on.
Make my very first monthly donation to The Reporter, the independent Taiwanese media outlet I deeply admire.
Later this month, the sailboat my husband Chris and I call home—Stormtrooper—will be back in the water. That means a new chapter of adventures is just around the corner!
Looking ahead, I hope to keep writing regularly (maybe once a week!), stay on track with our boat maintenance, and set sail on schedule. I’m excited to share more of our life between the islands—through the lens of both camera and heart.
Now, I’m off to set up that first donation to The Reporter. I have a feeling we’ll meet again here very soon.
Good night, and here’s to new beginnings.
